WRE Autism Awareness Week
April is worldwide Autism Awareness month, and we will be honoring this event at WRE. Please sign up to donate table cloths, hang up ribbons on trees, and donate blue lights to decorate the WRE halls. Seahawkers, let's join together to raise awareness for our students affected by autism and thank the teachers, administration, and support staff on campus. Also, you and your family please wear blue on April 2nd! Contact Jane Edson by email or text 214-799-7998.

If you or a family member would like to volunteer, you will have to complete an online background check. Please note, it takes two weeks to process.

All volunteers must submit a form annually, even if you are a returning volunteer and had one the prior year. Volunteer application forms are available here.

RISD Clothes Closet Needs You!

The RISD Clothes Closet NEEDS YOU!  Please consider volunteering a few hours at the Clothes Closet by signing up on this sign up genius.

You can drop off clothing donations for the RISD Clothes Closet in the basket in the WRE lobby anytime!  You can also take your donations directly to the Clothes Closet on all Monday mornings that RISD is in session from 9:30 to noon.  It is located at 1239 W. Beltline Rd (across from Richardson HS and next to RISD Newcomer Center).

The RISD Clothes Closet provides clothing to students in financially challenging situations.  This assistance allows the students to feel good about going to school, and they can focus on learning.  The Clothes Closet is located in a remodeled house across from Richardson High School on Beltline, which allows privacy to the students and families in a clean, store-like atmosphere.  It operates solely on clothing and monetary donations from the RISD families, community, and volunteers.  They also provide new shoes and toiletries to each student who comes through.  You can find the Clothes Closet's current needs on Facebook at RISD Council of PTAs Clothes Closet (RISDCC) and on Twitter @RISDPTACC. You can also email them at

Email Norma Lisa Abegg at with any questions!

Please give these staff members a big Seahawk welcome when you meet them!
